loose valve

opened my valve caps to adjust my valves, and one of my valves on exhaust side was loose. eveytime i tightened it it would come back loose.any ideas,mabey valve spring? i am new to quads dont know much about them. also what should the gap be .004 on both intake and exhaust foe stock 300ex?:confused:

Dont know the numbers right off. If you dont already, get a service manual. Theres allot of info in there. OR call a service dept. at your local dealership. They might help you out.

Hi, .004 is correct for your valves, could be you have a broken valve spring or have seen on quite a few honda's that the valve seat has dropped out of the head and then the valve pushes it back in again, which alters your valve clearances all the time, only other thing i've come across is the threads wearing on the valve adjuster screw and allowing it to move... Nice bike by the way.... :cool:
