I think I got a good deal on it even if I find some problems with it. So far it's flawless. The guy I bought it from said it had a big bore kit but I'm not sure. It definitely has race fuel in it. The jug is whiter than the rest of the motor and has a stamping in the front that is 5ta01 and the back says y-1. Does this sound like a stock jug? How else would I identify it without tearing the motor apart? Also, what type of pipe is this? Thanks.

Looks like some custom pipe on there. Judging by the tires, this bike has been used for drag racing in the street.

Drag racing anything means heavy wear & tear. Hence the low price. I hope you got a bill of sale. Hardly anybody is going to throw a big bore kit with custom exhaust on a bike them dump it for so cheap unless it's stolen or broken. It probably has upgraded air intake as well.

The bike looks pretty good though. usually clutches are first thing to go on a drag bike, which aren't too bad to replace.
You might have just gotten a good deal.

You'll want to change the chain & sprockets after some new tires. Those are the stock dunlops on there.

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you about it being ran on the street. Because of the tire wear and little wear anywhere else. Even then, stock tires wont last long on pavement and the chain and sprocket have plenty of life left albeit a bit rusty. So I believe it has low hours. I was told that it is a ron woods pipe. It does have a k&n air filter on it and was spotless when I bought it. The oil was also fresh so I believe maintenance was kept up. I have the title and the guy was the original owner so it's definitely not stolen. He said it sat for almost a year before he sold it to me. It pulls like a raped ape mid to high and will spank my piped 05 yz 250 2T. The only problem I have found is the jetting. It bogs when you stab the throttle from idle. The carb may just need cleaning. I bought a jet kit, manual, exhaust, extra plugs, nerf bars, and rear tires for it. Even if the motor needs rebuilt I still think I ended up with a fair deal instead of a steal. I just need to find a good place to get race fuel. It has 108 in it now.:)

Most Sunoco stations have a 110/112 pump.

This model is known for that low end bog. Do a youtube search for "YFZ zip tie mod". Quick & easy fox for that.

Sounds like a great deal man.

What's your location?

I just sent you a PM about an online tire sale with free shipping. $32 for fronts and $39 for the rears. Stock dunlops

I wish I knew about your tires earlier. I just bought rears and spent more than that. I read about the bog but figured it wouldn't be that noticeable. Ill give the zip tie mod a shot. My z400 has great low end grunt and maybe thats why it bothers me. Im in the Dallas area. Yfz's here average $3k and up for a comparable 06 or newer.
