can a fuel pump , pump to much? help..

i've got a 85' suzuki quadrunner 230 and it wount run barly can't let off the throttle and smokes alot, when i pull the plug its soaked.... it has a newer fuel pump on it is there some thing that reduces the amount of fuel it pumps

sounds like your carb's float is sticking, strip your carb and check the float level, also check the little valve attached to it, if there is a ring worn on the end that seals you'll need a new valve....:cool:
