Hey guys I have a 94 honda 300 ex that i got about 4 months ago just couldnt pass the deal up... It has ran great since the day i got it not had any problems with it though ive topped it out a few times and it will shut down and then pick up again after a 2 or 3 seconds almost like a gov. or something on a car... that didnt seem too normal to me but no biggie just figured thats kinda what it was since it is meant as more of an entry level quad. But today i was playing around on it a lil and it seemed fine at first then it started sputtering as the rpms would get high. checked the air filter make sure it was tight and it was i was curious if anyone knows what that could be. the previous owner said he wasnt sure that it was re jetted after the fmf megamax exhaust was put on could that be it or what else could it be??
Also another thing that is throwing me on it is that the quad is not blowing smoke nor does it have a rough idle at all the idle actually sounds great it sounds just fine. Everything about it sounds fine except the bog down as the rpms raise

Yes, you actually do have a jetting problem on the count that the seller whom you bought it from installed an FMF megabomb probably with the stock jets and it's bogging out on you on high rpm's.You have too much air going in and the stock jets are not made to play with that much air. This is what you need to do get an FMF stage 1 kit,a float bowl & a power bowl and that all in all will eliminate the bogging problem and you'll be revving high in all rpm's (low, mid to high).I was having the same problems with my 2001 250ex as soon as I installed my FMF exhaust.Just make sure you get the new FMF stage1 jet kit first then you can get the rest after that.

awesome... thank you very much.. Yeah It really kinda made me realize i really thought it was a jetting problem because after the day i posted i went out a few days later and it wasnt doing it but the weather was also different.. I will definetely get all that though and tank you very much for the help..

Your welcome, Yeah when the weather gets a little warmer it's not as bad but when it gets colder it starts to bog again.I know what you mean, just make sure you get those new Jets in like yesterday cuz if you keep riding it the way it is now your gonna have more problems.Get back to me as soon as you put them new jets in because your gonna notice a BIG difference when you ride:D .

How about completing the stage 1 upgrade surely you will enjoy this. Add a stage 1 carb kit, knn filter and some ignition coil.
