I've decided on an LTR.
I plan on upgrading to K&N Air Filter with a Yoshi pipe. I hear a lot of buzz about the Yoshi Cherry Bomb but most people claim you need to ride with the airbox lid completely off to get the full benefit of having one.
What risk is there to riding with the airbox lid off? If I didn't take it off, would the Cherry Bomb have me running too lean?
Also, since the new LTZ is fuel injected, is there a Cherry Bomb for it?

Well by riding with your lid off you are increasing your chances of water into your engine which really sucks so unless you ride somewhere that is really dry, like the desert or a drag strip I would not recommend it. Not a big expert on fuel injection when it comes to quads as I have never delt with it but i'm pretty sure you can just put the exhaust on it without worrying about anything. Since there is no carb you don't have to worry about the different amount of air entering your engine.

I can get an 09 Z400 for the price of a used 450R. For me the piece of mind is more valuable. I don't want to buy nobody's junk or failed project bike. A new Z400 is very appealing right now. Especially for $4600 out the door.
So now I'm scouring the net to see if the Cherry Bomb will fit the 09 Z400. It makes sense that it would but.....
I emailed Yoshimura & all they could say was they won't be making a Cherry Bomb for the Z400.
If anybody knows or has any input, please do chime in.

OK so after further research it is likely that the Cherry Bomb may not be an option for the Z400. Even if it does fit, the mappings for the 450R & Z400 are very different so the Cherry Bomb could have a harmful impact on a Z400 engine.
So now my question becomes; Do I really even need a fuel injection manager? I won't be doing any major racing or serious hill climbing. I'll be riding some trails and riding under the power lines. With an exhaust and air filter upgrade, can i do without the EFI management?
