2001 model, Blows gas out the pipe when first starts after a week of storage. That is if you can get it started. I have to shake the LT80 a little when it cold to keep it running for about a minute then it run and starts ok unless is sits for about a day then it back to shake and start.?

(Note the Vac. operated valve fuel switch leaks a little when LT80 is not running. This switch should not let fuel to the carb when engine is not running. So if it sit for a while and the fuel switch is leaking then the cab will be flood. To check pull the front hose from the fule switch with engine off and the switch set to fuel, if fuel come out then it leaking. the back hose on the switch is the vac. hose.. With the engine cranking or running the Vac. hose opens the fuel valve. I do not like the set up. I guess this if for kids that do not know that the fuel needs to turn off after riding. But I still don't know why other ATV are ok even if you leave the fuel on and this one not.)

So my Questions at this point is why does the shaking the LT80 help it start
till it warm up? with out the shaking it just cranks and cranks!

anyone think this is all because of the fuel never being shut off to the cab?

well it looks like the reason would be is that the gas is sittin in the carb and starting to freeze but when you shake it it moves the fuel around in there to free the gas. id check into a new carb system that will let the bike run better. i usually go to a dealer to get those. but if that doesnt help then i dont know what else it would be

Thanks for the response. This is like new LT80 it's a 2002 model. It's been in the shop for this problem before. but the guy I got it from could not tell me why he did not take it back. I think I will take the carb off today and inspect it. I don't know that much about inter changing carbs. What other carb will work in place of this one?

I took the carb off and apart it was clean. But the rubber boot or so called cap that go's from the pick up tube to the very bottom of the float bowl had some age cracks so I did away with this and put it back together, Now it starts with the engine cool I'll let it sit over night and check starting tomorrow.

The only thing I see this boot dose is allowes fuel to be taken from the very botton of the bowl maybe to keep from sucking air in time of riding on hills

I took a test ride the little 80 took my 200lb butt up hills and on roads very fast, This is a lot of power for a kid to ride..

Anyway any comments about this problem and should I get a new rubber boot and put back on this. Is there any danger with out it?
