My nine year old just spent his life savings on his first quad-a used 2005 honda trx 90. He is the third owner. I figured asking the big boys my question would be the way to go since you all probably started young too! The problem is, it is revving high. When i turn the choke down to where it has a good sounding idle, several minutes later it is idling high again. If I turn it waaaaay down, several minutes later it will die if he stops. Here's the twist: The first owner lived in the mountains in Colorado. We are in a valley. How do I adjust it for our altitude, if that is what needs to happen? What else can I try? I'd appreciate every suggestion available...no advice would be too elementary either. Thanks!

I really admire him for being so young & responsible enough to buy his own quad, good for him :) I like that! First off you have to find out what type of altitude your in to set the jetting right and also check the idle on the quad. There should be a little screw on the engine that's loose and moves easily that's idle screw, I'm sure know that but just in case a little info helps.Get back to me and let me know what happens.

(Sorry for the delay...) Thank you for your response. My son was elated to read your comments. :-)
We found the idle screw and tweaked it. It seemed to have done the trick! Thank you so very much!! You really saved the day and the quad!
Thanks again!
