I have a 2001 LT80 Quadsport that we have owned for a few years and it has a very strange problem. It floods like crazy. I could not even get it started this spring because it was completely full of fuel even up to the air cleaner neck and the starter would not crank. I drained a bunch of fuel from the exhaust drain plug as well. I got it running now but it is still sputtering fuel out of the exhaust with a little white smoke. I remember last season my son didn't ride it much but I do remember it was smoking and smelled like fuel (putting it mildly...it burned your eyes) when he did ride. Even three years ago when we bought it I remember when I took it off the my pickup for the first time I could not get it started and it turned out there was a bunch of gas in the exhaust. At the time, I chalked it up to tilting it to get it into and out of the truck, but now this seems to be a chronic condition and getting worse. I would think this would be a carb issue of some sort, but am at a loss as to what could possibly be putting this much fuel into it.

Any advice appreciated,

Jay

Is it just when she is starting, running, or does she leak when she off too.

Same trouble here 2001 model, Blow gas out the pipe when first starts. That is if you can get it started. I have to shake the LT80 a little when it cold to keep it running for about a minute then it run and starts ok.? Note the Vac. operated valve fuel switch leaks a little when LT80 is not running. This switch should not let fuel to the carb when engine is not running. So if it sit for a while and the fuel switch is leaking then the cab will be flood. To check pull the front hose from the fule switch with engine off and the switch set to fuel, if fule come out then it leaking. the back hose on the switch is the vac. hose.. With the engine cranking or running the Vac. hose opens the fuel valve. I do not like the set up. I guess this if for kids that do not know that the fuel needs to turn off after riding. But I still don't know why other ATV are ok even if you leave the fuel on and this one not.
