---------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a 1986 TRX250X that ran great for a day when I got it, but then would not kick start at all. I got the manual and did all the testing and determined that the pulse generator needed replaced. I opened the Left cover and out spilled about a quart of oil. Now I have had different people tell me that this is ok and this is not OK. I initially thought oil in the stator chamber was not good. But looking in the case, there seem to be at least 2 holes (intended holes) from the middle chamber to the left side. So it seems oil can freely pass. Anyway I replaced the Pulse Generator and voila! It worked ..... for a day. Then it died again. I was too frustrated to check the pulse generator again but I am pretty sure that is the problem. The question is: Should there be oil in the left side? If not then what would be leaking that would create this problem? I really like this ATV. when it runs ... it is the fastest thing I have ever ridden and I like it quite a bit. So I want to get it right.

I assume at this point that the Oil is not supposed to be in the case and is causing the Pulse generator to die. I just dont know what is leaking. It may be that Oil is supposed to be in the lower part of the crankcase and not the top where the Pulse is but with the spinning of the stator it seems oil would be everywhere anyway.

Could something else be making the Pulse G. die?

Any help on this one?
