You need to get a wire tester so you can find out where's the problem.

This is pretty common with the sportsman battery or the current in the wires that connect to the battery are weak or dead (no current at all). The only way you can fix this is by testing the wires to find out if you have any juice flowing through. If the wires are o.k. then it has to be the battery.

Is there enough electrolyte in the battery? I had a similar problem with the battery on my bike where it went dead and couldn't charge it. Bad spark plug so bike wound over till it died, no recoil start and I left the battery in the shed for a week in the cold before I could get around to it. When I tried to charge it but no luck. Anyway (I know they tell you not to open a battery and there are stickers on it telling you not to open it and like any job you shouldn't do it if your nervous. BUT. I took it into the house and pried off the top. No liquid in it what so ever. Boiled some water in the kettle for about 10 minutes and filled the battery and put it on the trickle charger. When it was charged I put it back on the bike and have not had any trouble with it since.
