What kind a quad are you looking to buy? HONDA,YAMAHA,SUZUKI etc...? You might need a little more than 1000.oo because I paid 6000.oo for my 2008 YFZ450 and I got a good deal on it because the new 09 models are coming out now.You need at least 4000.00 to 5000.00 if you want to buy a brand new 300 to 400cc quad.I'm going to give you a little advice please do not buy a Chinese quad, why? Because they are nothing but trouble! Take your time and save your money so you can buy a really "awesome quad".;)

With 2000 you can find a decent 300ex or Blaster its going to be older though like 99-01.

I have to agree with yfzgirl. Do Not Buy them Chinese Quads. On the other hand you don't have to have a pile of money to get a quad. I did go the expensive route and bought one brand new but in hind sight I think I would have been just as good off with an old bike that I could build up myself. My cousin bought one for 2000 and it came with several aftermarket parts such as fmf exhaust and air filter. All we done was paint the frame. And by the way that bike was the fastest around, not bad for 2 grand.

I'm a business manager by trade and finance cars for a living. If this is an option and your parents or whomever can help you out... put your 1000 down and ask your parents or whomever to finance the rest for you and make payments if you have a part time job. Sometimes this is a flat NO but is an option then you can step right up and get a quad that will fit your needs and is new. Either way, I hope you get exactly what you are looking for, GET OUT AND RIDE.

Just something you may wish to remember. If you decide to finance a new quad, especially if your only going to make a very small down payment, is that your going to be paying on it for a very long time. If you decide to do this and wish to get rid of the bike a little farther down the road you may encounter problems.

P.S. Use your head if you finance. Don't buy something you can't afford. I would have thought this wouldn't have needed to be expressed. Term, monthly payment and how long you think you are going to keep the quad should all be thought out in detail.

And finally Demon Rider speaks....where have you been! lol:D only kidding! You guys are right no one wants to pay for a motorcycle for years especially if you put the minimum on a down payment.

1000 is not enough for a new quad unless your looking for a used one.I paid 9000 for my 450 Yamaha brand new.

Missed me did ya yfzgirl? haha. Anyway yeah I thought it was a given only paying 1000 will only get you a used bike. In the mean time it can still be a good bike. Up to how mechanically inclined the owner is cuz an older bike needs more maintance and if you go running to a dealer for every little thing it could get very pricey.

Yes I did miss you! I didn't have any one to talk to besides Pomarico he's a cool guy.He kept me from being bored, lol.We carried some pretty good conversations about racing&parts and all kinds of different things. But I was wondering where were you because you weren't around for a while.Anyway I'm glad your back!

LOL at least there was someone here to keep you company. I wander from here to atvriders.com to keep occupied myself, but I always check in now in then, kinda busy being a student so I don't have as much time as I would like for this kind of thing.

Yeah, I hear you man...education first I always say that to my 2 boys. Are you gonna do any riding this spring? (stupid ?) lol and if so where? I'm gonna check out this place called, Pocono Manor Resort it's in Pennsylvania a lot of people said it's an amazing place to go riding.I'll be heading up there for spring break with the family. Are you planning anything for spring break?

Am I gona do any riding? That like asking me if i'm going to breath. I thought winter was over here but I got 40 cm of the white stuff dumped on me over the weekend but that didn't stop me. I might not have been able to get the outlaw out but dads kawasaki came through for me, and speaking of which I was reminded how important a winch was when I buried her in the snow to the top of the fenders. As for spring break I won't be going anywhere since I only get one day off and my summer is shot as im going on work term (3 months at sea). I've been getting this craving lately though about getting a dual purpose dirt bike. Whats your thoughts, recommendations?

You sure he got a brand new one from the dealer at 5800. Seemes rather cheap seeing how the msrp on their website (canadian) is 10699 for the cheapest. 5800 is good for second hand.

Well at least you got to go out in the snow and made the best out of it even if you got stuck that's what I call, a real rider.Your dad's Kawi was perfect for the snow Good choice! Sorry that your not getting off for spring break, that's a bummer! Your thinking about getting a street legal dirt bike am I correct? and if so it's a good choice! cause I had one but I sold it and I regret it... cause their a lot of fun! Honda has the XR 650L for $6,000,Kawi has KLR 650 and Suzuki has theV-Storm 1000 & V-Storm 650 ABS.The Tag on the Suzuki are $8,000-$9,000 but well worth it.

Yea, I was at my dealer looking at some boots, seen the new KTM 450 sx, its sweet no doubt, but 10,400? JEEEZE! Might as well buy a car..

O yeah.................I got out riding all right, the bike was in 4WD all day and I had to lock the front differential a few times to get across a few bog holes and ohh yeah was she stuck. Had to hook the winch up twice to get her out of the hole i was in. lol most fun I've had in a while. Tomorrow I'm making one last crack at winter. Bought a 2003 polaris 700 sks today and tomorrow we and dad are getting in the truck and driving west till we find snow to try her out. Should be fun. Yes, I am looking into getting a dual purpose motorcycle. I was leaning towards the xr650L because it is such a great bike or maybe a suzuki because my cousin had one of their dirt bikes and had so much fun with it. Final decision won't be till september more than likely cuz I won't have any money till after my work term and will be based mostly on the best deal I can get at the time.

KTM's are awesome but the price is too steep and in this day & age know one wants spend the much it's ridiculous! KTM has to learn how to bring their prices down just like every other dealership is doing now.OH, I made a mistake on the price of my YFZ450 it was 9,000 for both quads (08 Raptor80 & 08 YFZ450) sorry bout that! If it wasn't for the price I would've gotten the KTM 505sx but at 11,800 not worth it! and KTM is not good at making deals they didn't want to go down for nothing man! Bottom line If it was me I would get the Suzuki cuz their sweet.
