I just bought this quad today, I thought I was getting a good deal on it, but when I brought it home I started riding it and black smoke was blowing out. It also stalled on me a few times. When I test drove it the quad seemed to run fine. It's a 95 blaster. Does anyone know what could be the problem? is it serious?

Your quad is running too rich, clean out and reset the carb, check the choke isn't sticking.....

Since your quad is running rich; when you correct the problem don't forget to check your plug. most likely it will be black and fowled up. If it is a champion you might as well throw it out. NGK or any other good plug you might be able to save by cleaning off the electrode but for the price of spark plug I would recommend you just go and buy a new plug.

I'm just really curious to ask this (?) .Demon Rider do you have nerfs on your quad? And if you do, how did you get them mounted on? Because my friend has an outlaw 525irs-06 and he's having problems mounting his nerf bars on his quad.If so, can you tell me what's the name brand & how did you get them mounted.I would gladly appreciate, You helping me out with this problem. Thanks!

HAHA. Yes I do and it wasn't an easy project. When I wanted to put nerfs on my bike (about 2 weeks after I bought her) no one had nerfs out for her yet, so I decided to make my own.:D Went out and bought some round stock and a tube bender and bent the tubing to my specs and bolted it to the frame and then welded them there for a bit of extra support (Don't want them babies falling off when you need them the most) and finally I sewed on the straps. It took a fair bit of work but I got a set of custom nerfs that I can say I made myself. However I got no pics that you can really see them in and since my camera fell in the pond this summer it don't really work anymore.:(

Thanks for helping me out with that I really appreciate it.My friend is so stressed out about this it's not even funny anymore. He already has ruined the DG nerfs he has purchased and paid so much for trying to mount them on himself with no fabrication knowledge what so ever.Anyway, Thanks again for helping me out with the info.;)

Bummer. I ruining new parts. The obvious advise would be to let someone qualified to hook it up but i'm afraid i'm the same and will try any job by myself. Got to love a gear-heads ego.
